Coming Soon: Flying Taxis In Frisco, TX

Flying taxis might be headed to Frisco — but not next week.

Archer Aviation just laid out plans for an electric air-taxi network across Dallas-Fort Worth, and Frisco Station (the big development around the Cowboys’ Star) is on the list. The idea is pretty straightforward: hop in their all-electric Midnight aircraft, skip the traffic, and turn a 60- to 90-minute drive into a 10- to 20-minute flight between airports and business hubs.

In North Texas the proposed network would link DFW, Love Field, Addison, Arlington, Meacham, and Alliance airports with spots like Frisco Station. Archer is pitching the same concept in Houston and Austin too.

The catch? This is still just a plan. The planes aren’t certified yet, the routes aren’t locked in, and no one’s booking seats. Texas has some testing programs underway, but actual passenger service is still a ways off.

So yeah — cool concept, and Frisco’s on the map for it. Just don’t cancel your Uber quite yet.

Archer hasn’t locked in official prices yet, but their chief commercial officer, Nikhil Goel, has given a pretty clear ballpark.

He says these flights should land in the same range as an Uber Black — roughly $100 to $150 for something like a Frisco-to-Fort Worth trip, depending on the time of day.

The pitch is that because the planes are all-electric (no fuel costs, simpler maintenance), they can keep the price in premium-ride territory instead of the much higher rates you’d pay for a helicopter today. Early on, expect it to feel more like a special or business-class option than everyday cheap transport; prices are supposed to come down as the network grows and more aircraft are flying.

Nothing’s set in stone until they actually launch, though.
